I wanted to post this blog but I never got to do it. So finally, I have disciplined myself and sat in front of the computer. Last year, I made a trip to Krabi, Thailand, thanks to Air Asia and its Go Holiday packages. Fortunatel,y we went during the off peak season so we had the island to ourselves.
Krabi, a coastal province, abounds with countless natural attractions that never fail to impress tourists. White sandy beaches, crystal clear water, fascinating coral reefs, caves and waterfalls, as well as, numerous islands are its specialties. Krabi is not as commercialized as Phuket, makes it a perfect getaway location for a quite weekend. Anyway, I always take the first shot from the plan, just to have a birds-eye view of the country(as above). So much land....

A small sundry shop selling all kinds of snacks, we saw on our way to Koh Lanta |
|
A hawker was selling some very interesting "kuih' (snacks). Tasted not too bad. |
We stayed at Koh Lanta, so we had to take two ferries across to that island. It was a good experience, as we got to see scenic views of the countryside, and even meet locals who were on the ferries.
There was this hawker selling his version of our "Nyonya kuih" (local snacks). There were both, a mixture of sweet and savoury cakes, and very, very colourful and attractive. They were not only good lookers, but tasted incredibly good too! Yeah, for a start..because they would be lots more to savour in this trip!
We arrived in this very beautiful hotel, Chada Beach Resort & Spa, Koh Lanta. Besides its beauty, the staff was wonderful. We were upgraded to the Gold Suite. I will post one blog on its own about this hotel , as there is so much to talk about (all good stuff). Just a sneak preview...
Now about the food in Krabi. Generally, there were the good and the bad..so here it goes.

Clear Tomyam Soup |

Friend Morning Glory ( we know it as kangkung belacan) |
|
White Snapper (our Siakap) |
|
Mineral Water and Sprite (check out the bottle) |
We had all of the above for dinner at a restaurant called Fisherman's Restaurant, which was highly recommended by the shop along the same road. But the food was disappointing. The waitress kept warning us about the spiciness, and we said it is okay for us. But at the end, it was not spicy enough for us. The next day we went to another restaurant suggested by our hotel manager, and the food was delicious, and authentically Thai because it had the correct amount of spiciness. No photos though, because the food was attacked before I could take out my camera : )
