It was a cold and rainy day , and as usual the cold made me hungry. At 4.00pm, my stomach craved for something savoury.Currypuffs come into our mind when we think of what we want to accompany our hot cup of tea with..
There is Indian uncle in Puchong Jaya, who has his small stall set up right in front Day-to-Day restaurant. We found him by accident when we were at the restaurant one day. He makes this terrific currypuffs there and then, and makes them so tasty. Imagine crispy in the outside, and sizzling hot fillings of potatoes in the inside. That is how his currypuffs are, and when eaten hot, it does wonders in your mouth. He sells them with potatoes or sardine filling to satisfy both vegetarian and non vegetarian. Believe it or not, both mu husband and my son love these currypuffs. You know how hard it is to satisfy the taste buds of pure Penangites!
Another favourite of mine is the cekodok pisang, or small balls made of bananas. It is small, and cute, and this uncle is not stingy with the usage of bananas. Unlike most people selling this, his banana balls does not taste of baking soda or essence. I don't think he uses these ingredients.
He also sells vade (and indian savoury snack), and other snacks. However, these are what I bought for the day. Enjoy it with a cup of steaming, hot tea, and you are halfway there to heaven.
