Raita, a cheap and delicious dish is very common in India & Pakistan. It is a yogurt based, salty cooling side dish . There are many ways to prepare the dish. It gives tremendous taste when served chilled and any leftovers refrigerated. You can drop any item into the yogurt to make raita.
Mine was made of coriander leaves, tomatoes, mint leaves, green and red chillies and onion are chopped fine. Mix them into the yogurt. Raita is mostly served salty. I wanted mine a little sweet,so I added sugar in it.I kept it in the fridge to chill.
Can be eaten with briyani rice, pulav, kebabs or even snacks such as pakhoras, vadai and so on. It is all up to your imagination....

Chettinad Kozhi Rasam (Chettinad Chicken Rasam)
Rasam, though spicy is an excellent home remedy for common cold. It's very spicy and hot and most often, the cold says 'Bye-bye' the very next day.
By way of making the chicken rasam, is definitely a one of a kind. To be honest, I made chicken soup the day before, and I had lots of left over. So, I decided to innovate and create it to another dish. I looked through teh net to get the ingredients and tried out my own way. Mind you, this is not the classic method of making this dish.
Ingredients:
Left over soup (hahaha)
To grind ( 1 tablespoon of black pepper, 1 tablespoon of cumin, 1/2 tablespoon of fennel seed, 1 tablespoon of coriander, 3 cloves of garlic and 2 pcs of dried chillies) - dry grind
To fry - curry leaves, onion
Tomato
I tablespoon of tuneric and 1 tablespoon of chilly powder
Serve these piping hot, with steamed rice. Yep, pour the rasam over hot, hot rice and enjoy it with the varuval. No fun eating it cold. Everything has to be piping hot! You'll work out a sweat! The menu for the day was Chicken Rasam, Chicken Kicap(in Soya Sauce) and Brocolli & Mushroom.

Milo Cubes- Super Easy Dessert
This is one of the easiest recipes that I have come across, and thank to my sister. All you need is butter, milo, marie biscuits and condense milk. Remember, break those marie biscuit into chunk size pieces. not powdered form. Don't ask me how much, plse...
Heat butter, and stir in rest of the ingredients, and that is all to it. Put it into a pie dish and let it cool down. Once it is cooled down, put it into the refrigerator. Just remember while it is still hot. cut them into cubes, so that when it sets, you just bring out each cube.
Sad to say, it is not a pretty sight, and will not look appetizing at all, with it dark colour and my mediocre presentation...but damn, it is good to eat!!
Eaten right from the fridge, just heavenly. and guess what, it never last more that a day. No...it does not spoil, it just vanished from the fridge !! Not only son, hubby too, is the culprit!

Spicy Curried Crabs
These are mud crabs, slightly greenish, blackish in colour and meaty, when compared to the flower crab.Normally, I like female crabs because they have roes which taste really nice when mixed into the gravy.
To make a delicious curried crab dish, you just need a little bit of everyday ingredients, passion and a good mood. And you get a wonderful dish at a fraction of the price, you pay in restaurants.
Let me give you a word of caution, this dish is extremely spicy, so it is not for the faint heart. I don't really have a standard recipe for it. I just follow my mood for the day.
Sadly, my husband got the male crabs, for RM35/kg, so that is one down...but they crabs were huge and meaty.

Home-made Wan Ton Mee (Halal Version)
Sometimes, when you are at the hawker centre, and you have ordered a plate of wan ton mee, there is so much noodles, but not enough wan ton. So we end up, ordering an extra plate of soup. And then, we look for fried wan ton.
So why go through all that heart-ache, make you own. It is healthy, pork free (for those who don't take pork) and you can have as many wan tons as you like.
To make wan tons, I used minced chicken, prawns and the black fungus (a type of mushroom). Of course, you can add on any type of veges, like carrots or water chestnut...etc. Marinate it with egg and corn flour. I chose to boil some and fry some wan tons. Wan ton is fun to make, and I got my son involved in the process. It could be a fun filled weekend activity with the kids, a plus point!!

Home-made Kerabu Bee Hoon- Fresh, tantalizing and spicy...
I am inspired Chef Wan's recipes, and one fine day, I watched him prepare his grandma's recipe - the famous nyonya cuisine, the kerabu bee hoon (vermicelli salad). Coming from Penang, I have eaten this dish a couple of times, but never thought of trying it out on my own until today. It is a very popular Nyonya rice noodle salad, very pungent, sharp and tasty.

Ghee Rice with whatever you can find in the fridge (Vegetarian)
Well, a girl has got to innovate when things get boring. It was yet another vegetarian day, and I had to cook up something interesting for the family. I pondered through the whole night, and got this excellent idea.Simple dish, and it is all up to your creativity and your mood. Suit yourself with whatever you have.....Make it yours!!
I did mine like this...
Ghee Rice with whatever you can find in the fridge
Ingredients:
Rice
Ghee
Finely sliced red chillies
Grated Carrots
Finely sliced capsicums
Cinnamon stick and clove
Freshly grounded garlic + ginger
Garnish
Fresh coriander leaves
Green chilles
Tomato
Heat up a little ghee, and fry the garlic-ginger paste, cinnamon and cloves until fragrant. Then add in rice and stir. Make sure rice is coated with ghee all over. Then out into your cooker, as how you normally do...
When it is cooked, but not fully cooked...heat up a little ghee, and slightly fry the rest of the veges..Then add them into the half-cooked rice, and continue cooking. You can add "daun pandan" if you want to. I did not have any on that day, so I did not. Once rice is cooked, throw in the garnishing ingridients, and stir through.
Voila! An appetizing, vegetarian rice dish for the day !
It should be complimented with a spicy sambal kind of dish, or a simple raita...but I am to tired to talk about those two now!! Enjoy the results...I mean photos, to you...
